Right now, here at home we are looking for ways on how to add hot water on our plumbing system. Currently, we only have cold water system and have plumbing pipes not suitable for hot water. So, we consulted some sanitary engineers on how can we convert our plumbing system to accommodate hot and cold water system and they said that it is possible but it will be costly. So we canvass first on how much money we would need for the upgrade and found out that there are different kinds of pipes that could handle hot and cold water supply and as I read more I found out PEX Tubing and the one kind of them that is suitable for residential houses is the NON- Barrier PEX Tubing. What is great with this kind of tubing is that is has certifications that it can be used for potable water, have chlorine resistance, low-lead requirements and that is so flexible you could place it anywhere.
Now for the price, which is one of the important factor we are looking for. Most common materials used for hot and cold water system are cooper and brass pipes. These pipes are so rigid unlike the PEX Tubing where it is flexible so that installation will be easy which could lessen the cost on labor. Another factor is that the PEX are 8 times lower than copper in price. Meaning, you could have big savings on the materials used and the labor on installation.
